STEVEN SLEUYTER IS TAKING PART IN THE TOUGHEST FOOT RACE ON EARTH
Today Steven Sleuyter, joint proprietor and commercial director of the Groep Sleuyter has left for Paris, to join the other 1000 participants of the "Marathon of the Sands". This course takes place in the Sahara Desert in Southern Morocco and has come to be referred to as "the toughest footrace on the earth". During 5 days, competitors must run daily through sand dunes and rock formations.

A few years already, Steven has a passion for marathons and has participated in several top marathons. For this race, he has trained intensively during 9 months and has even run up to 200 km a week.
Of course not during business hours, since Groep Sleuyter remains his most important passion.
The entire Groep Sleuyter staff wishes him all the best and is looking forward to seeing results of this challenge.

THE SLEUYTER GROEP OBTAINS THE MEDIA CENTER SITE IN OSTEND
End of June Groep Sleuyter made an agreement with DEXIA Real Estate for the development of the Media Center site in Ostend. After an intensive study among various other project developers, Dexia has finally chosen for the Groep Sleuyter proposal. The winning proposal has been developed by the architect's firm A1 Planning and the renowned architectural firm Robberecht & Daem. Currently, the project involves a whole lot of red tape, before its commercialization can be started. But it certainly will become an architectural talked-about building, which will allow Ostend to present itself as a precursor in the field of urban architecture at the Belgian coast.

21/01/2010 10:00 trends.beRead moreIn his annual report of the Ostend economy, professor and planner (RUG) Georges Allaert of the Ghent University (RUG) doesn't present a very rosy picture of the port of Ostend.
Allaert concludes that Ostend has also a very small economic base with too few big companies (barely 25, against 20 in 2004). However, the companies with a place of business in Ostend, are a blessing to the local economy. They often have a leading position in their sector in Belgium (e.g. Daikin or Jetair), but they also score very well regarding employment. Between 2000 and 2010, the 10 largest companies created as much as 1.233 new jobs (on a total amount of 3.445) or an increase of more than fifty percent since the beginning of the new millennium. Allaert praises newcomers like Groep Sleuyter (that became an Oscar for increase sales) or Electrawinds.
